Designed for compatible 6.5-inch speakers, these custom speaker grills are ideal for automotive doors, multi-speaker panels, custom golf carts, Polaris and Slingshot builds, UTVs, side-by-sides, and other custom audio installations.
And like everything in our Demo Audiophile Series, the strange-looking creature staring back at you isn't allowed to forget what's underneath it.
This is simply our interpretation of an Alien Skull.
No movie character.
No specific creature.
Just our own strange combination of an elongated alien head, aggressive skull structure, organic details and a slightly psychedelic personality.
Depending on how you look at it, you might even catch a little old-school counterculture skull energy hiding in there.
And that's okay with us.
What matters is that the Alien Skull has a personality all its own.
This is where the design becomes more than a sculpture.
The large eye sockets are completely open.
The nose is open.
The mouth and lower skull incorporate numerous acoustic passages.
Openings run through portions of the face itself.
And the skull is surrounded by a large high-flow hexagonal structure that leaves substantial open area over the speaker underneath.
The negative space gives the creature its expression.
But it also gives your speaker somewhere to send the music.
And that's one of the fundamental ideas behind our Demo Audiophile Series:
Take a closer look at the Alien Skull and you'll notice something important.
There isn't one giant solid slab covering the middle of your speaker.
The eyes, nose, mouth and lower facial structure all contain substantial open areas.
That's particularly important with many modern coaxial 6.5-inch speakers, where important high-frequency components may be located toward the center of the driver.
We don't want to create a beautiful sculpture and then park a giant chunk of plastic directly in front of everything you're trying to hear.
The openings become facial detail.
Facial detail becomes acoustic passage.
And the acoustic requirements actually make the creature look stranger and more interesting.

The open hexagonal structure surrounding the Alien Skull has two jobs.
It visually separates the creature from the surrounding frame, making that bizarre face appear to emerge from the center of the speaker.

And that's exactly what we want.
Instead of filling the area around the sculpture with unnecessary material, the hex structure maintains support while leaving substantial open space for the speaker underneath.
The face provides the focal point.
The hex geometry provides the surrounding structure.
The open areas provide the airflow.
The Alien Skull shown here is printed in our carbon fiber filament, giving the design its distinctive silvery-black appearance.
This isn't ordinary glossy black.
The material interacts with light differently across all of those raised surfaces.
Look straight at it and the creature can appear dark and sinister.
Change the viewing angle and highlights begin traveling across the forehead, eyes, cheekbones, teeth, border and surrounding geometry.
The effect works particularly well on this design because the Alien Skull contains so much dimensional surface detail.
Different parts of the face catch the light differently, creating a subtle metallic-looking glow without turning the entire piece bright silver.
We may offer additional colors and finishes for the Alien Skull in the future, but this version is being featured specifically in the carbon fiber finish because it complements the sculpture beautifully.

When the speaker is rear-mounted or sufficiently recessed beneath the panel, this configuration keeps the grill close to the mounting surface for a clean, integrated appearance.
